Understanding ones own image and identity is paramount to investigating the figure as subject matter. Images are pursued in drawing and printmaking by exploring scale, texturing, layering and repetition. This artist experiments with ink washes on large sheets of semi transparent polyester drawing film which allows for constant modifying of images. This results in a series of figure neither naked nor clothed which create a sense of vacancy however containing emotion and expressiveness.
A painter and printmaker working in an abstract way as a response to a personal experience which can be disturbing or delightful. Texture, colour and the written word are important and incorporated in the work. Living near trees and water, provides a constant source of inspiration.
A Fine Art graduate, this artist's practice is centred on the theme of domestic space, the places where people live and what they surround themselves with. She uses wire to create sculptures, collages and installations. Wire can function as three dimensional line drawings in space and has the ability to capture shapes and angles that enable her to create environments that are both fantastical and whimsical. She likes to explore the notion of other worlds that evoke nostalgia, memory and a sense of wonder. She often uses Victorian and Edwardian imagery as inspiration.
